  • Bring your out-of-state license, along with two proofs of residency and identity (for instance, your birth certificate and passport).
  • Surrender your license.

Next up, vehicle registration!

How To Register Your Car In Florida

Once you’ve arrived in Florida full time, you need to register your car within 10 days of establishing residency, placing your child in a school, or securing employment. Here are the steps:

  • Gather proof of identity (your birth certificate, passport, etc.), vehicle title, and proof of Florida insurance.
  • Next, complete the Application of Certificate of Title With/Without Registration.
  • Then, go to the DMV with records in hand, and pay the Florida car registration fees of $225.
  • You’ll receive a meta license plate, which you’ll want to attach immediately, so bring a flathead screwdriver.
  • Put the registration certificate you receive in your glove box for safe keeping.
  • Finally, place the registration decal you receive at the DMV in the upper right-hand corner of your new license plate.
